Boca (Piedmontese: Bòca, Lombard: Boca) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Novara in the Italian region of Piedmont, located approximately 90 kilometers (56 miles) north-east of Turin and approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) north -west of Novara.
Boca borders the following municipalities: Cavallirio, Cureggio, Grignasco, Maggiora, Prato Sesia and Valduggia.
The town of Boca hosts the wine Denomination of controlled origin (DOC) which includes 15 hectares (37 acres) which produce a single red wine. The wine is a blend of Nebbiolo at 45-70%, Vespolina at 20-40% and up to 20% of Uva Rara (known locally as Bonarda Novarese). All the grapes destined for the production of DOC wine must be harvested with a yield not exceeding 9 tons / ha. The wine must be aged in barrels for at least 2 years with another year of aging in bottle before it can be released to the public. The finished wine must reach a minimum alcohol level of 12% to be labeled with the DOC Boca designation.
