About Province of Cagliari

Cagliari (Italian: Province of Cagliari; Sardinian: Provìncia de Casteddu) was a province of the autonomous region of Sardinia in Italy and its capital was Cagliari.

It had an area of 4,470 square kilometers (1,730 square miles) and a total population of 543,310 (2001). There were 71 municipalities (singular: municipality) in the province .

The historic province was suppressed by the 2016 regional decree of the Province of Cagliari and replaced by the metropolitan city of Cagliari.
