About Province of Modena

The Province of Modena (Italian: Provincia di Modena) is a province of the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy. Its capital is the city of Modena.

It has an area of 2,689 square kilometers (1,038 square miles) and a total population of around 701,000 (2015). There are 48 municipalities (singular: comune) in the province, see Municipalities in the Province of Modena. The largest ones after Modena are Carpi, Sassuolo, Formigine and Castelfranco Emilia.


Modena is one of the most important industrial centers in Europe: it is widely considered the capital of the Supercars and SportCars industries which host car manufacturers Ferrari, Maserati, De Tomaso and Pagani, international food industries such as Grandi Salumifici, Gruppo Cremonini, Gruppo Fini, ceramic manufacturers (inland of Sassuolo is considered "ceramic district"), textiles and pharmaceuticals. The famous and famous trading card company Panini Group also comes from Modena.
